YS Sharmila scheduled to resume her ‘Praja Prasthanam’ Padayatra on May 28

‘Praja Prasthanam’ Padayatra of the YSR Telangana Party is scheduled to resume on May 28. The walkathon will be started by YSRTP President YS Sharmila in Sattupally in Khammam district.

The padayatra had been discontinued so she could analyze the paddy procurement situation in the state.

Sharmila earlier in the week held a review meeting with the party’s spokespersons, state committee members, district presidents and presidents of allies at the party’s Lotus Pond office in Hyderabad.

“YSRTP’s padayatra will resume from Sattupally,” party state spokesperson Thudi Devender Reddy said at a press conference here. He demanded that Telangana’s Minister of Agriculture, Co-operation and Marketing, Niranjan Reddy, disclose the amount of paddy purchased by the government.

Founder of YSR Telangana Party Y.S. Sharmila had previously reached the 1,000-km mark as part of the State-wide padayatra titled “Praja Prasthanam” near Sattupalli town.

Former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s wife Vijayamma inaugurated a pylon and the statue of YSR at Thallamada village in Sattupalli mandal on a Thursday to commemorate the feat achieved by her daughter in the midst of the searing heatwave.

On Thursday evening, the mother and daughter addressed a public meeting in Sattupalli town.

Ms Sharmila announced she will continue her statewide padayatra with renewed resolve to know the agony of distraught people under the ‘misrule’ of the TRS and to mobilize public support against ‘misgovernance’.

Recently, Y.S. Sharmila came down heavily on the State Government, alleging that it failed to provide farmers with minimum support prices (MSPs) and that middlemen are taking advantage of them. Farmer’s products cannot be sold, she said.

As she spoke to reporters, Y.S. Sharmila said that farmers have suffered significant losses due to the government’s failure to enforce MSP.
