The leader of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP), YS Sharmila, met with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi ahead of the Telangana elections. This gathering has spurred talk of a possible merger between the YSRTP and the Congress party.
Sharmila stated after the meeting that she had a constructive talk with Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. She highlighted her commitment to working for the people’s welfare and added that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s (KCR) “countdown” has begun.
The debate between YS Sharmila and Congress leaders is thought to have focussed on political events in Telangana and the potential of a merger between the YSRTP and the Congress party. The gathering is considered as part of the larger political dynamics running up to the state’s impending elections.

Meanwhile, on a national level, a coalition of political parties known as “INDIA” is preparing for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The opposition bloc’s 26 members are meeting to plan their strategy against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.
During their meeting in Mumbai, the leaders of INDIA are scheduled to discuss war plans, seat-sharing arrangements, and to unveil their logo. The sessions are organized by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), a non-profit organization.
