Sambhal(Uttar Pradesh): A shocking video recording of a stray dog nibbling at the dead body of a girl inside a government hospital in the Sambhal area of Uttar Pradesh has prompted public outrage.
The disturbing occurrence took place on Thursday after the girl was brought to the hospital after a road accident and died later. Hospital officials have suspended two workers who reportedly couldn’t cope up with the huge number of dead bodies on the day.
The 20-second video shared broadly on social media, shows a dog nibbling at what seems to be a dead body covered by a white cloth lying on a stretcher in an isolated place in the hospital.
The family members of the victim have accused the hospital of negligence while the hospital administration has acknowledged the stray dog issue.
Charan Singh, the girl’s father, said to reporters: “It was left unattended for 1.5 hours. It is the negligence of the hospital.”
Sushil Verma, a doctor at the medical clinic said: “The body was handed over to the family after formalities. They did not want an autopsy and were taking it away. They may have left the body unattended for a minute when the incident happened.”
The Samajwadi Party, who additionally shared the shocking video on Twitter, called for strict action against those who are responsible.
A ward boy and a sweeper at the hospital have been suspended and an investigation committee had been formed in the issue.
A hospital official stated: “After the investigation, we found out the ward boy and sweeper were responsible. They had a large number of bodies to deal with. However, we have suspended them and we have looked for an explanation from the doctor that was on emergency duty along with the pharmacist. We have also created a committee to investigate the matter.”
