A lady police officer gets assigned as SHO in Hyderabad for the first time

A woman police officer has been assigned as the Station House Officer for the first time in the history of the Hyderabad City Police (SHO).

On International Women’s Day, Home Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali and City Police Commissioner C.V.Anand handed over command of the Lalaguda PS to Ms Madhu Latha.

The Home Minister, Police Commissioner, and other dignitaries were also present during the Women’s Day celebrations at St. Mary’s College auditorium in Secunderabad. The occasion was attended by all-female personnel of the Hyderabad City Police.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand stated that a woman will be appointed as a station house officer (SHO) in Hyderabad for the first time.

On the occasion of Women’s Day (March 8), Hyderabad police select a woman as SHO, to begin with, and two or three more women would be appointed to lead police stations in the coming days.

We are attempting to convince them. We aim that 20-30% of the overall police force will be female constables and sub-inspectors (SI). Despite having many family problems, we believe they can be SHOs if their better halves support them, and we are motivating them. No one had been appointed as SHO until now, which we considered was a bad tradition. Women will henceforth be involved in law and order decisions, Anand said at a ‘Gender Equality Run’ organised by the Hyderabad police SHE Teams.

Over 5,000 people took part in the 2-km and 5-km runs held at People’s Plaza. Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, and senior Hyderabad police Commissionerate officers attended.

On the margins of the ceremony, the commissioner stated that strict security would be in place for the upcoming assembly session, which would begin on Monday. Security review meetings were held in conjunction with the session.
