A perplexing polling pattern in Rajendranagar may surprised everyone

Out of five wards of Rajendranagar circle-11, only Rajendranagar ward No.56, fared quite well in receiving good voter turnout with 49.04 percent polling registered yesterday by the end of polling process i.e. upto 6.00 pm while the remaining wards such as Sulemannagar, Shastripuram, Mailardevpally and Attapur manage to attract 48.68%, 46.93%, 47.05% and 48.97 percent of voting respectively.

During the day upto 1 pm only 20.27 percent voting has been registered in all the five wards with Sulemannagar got 19.11 percent, Shastripuram got 20.07 percent, Mailardevpally got 19.50 percent Rajendranagar got 19.78 percent and Attapur got 22.85 percent polling.

The swift change in voting trend in Rajendranagar Ward No.60, was seen only after 5.00 pm that baffled everyone. While only 21.11 percent polling has been registered by 5.00 pm as per official record it has reached a total 49.04 percent by 6.00 pm. This ward carries a whopping 47,588 registered voters. The lowest polling was registered in Shastripuram with 46.93 percent voters turned out to cast their votes.

Interestingly, despite having a low number of voters in the entire Rajendranagar circle, compare to other wards, the two Muslim dominating wards like Shastripuram and Sulemannagar fared much better than the other three Hindu dominating wards such as Mailardevpally, Rajendraagar and Attapur. While Sulemannagar registered 48.68 percent polling, the Shastripuram ward secured 46.93 percent votes by 6.00 pm.

Another surprising development is despite having a whopping number of 79,579 voters, the Mailardevpally ward registered only 47.05 percent polling while the Shastripuram ward – with total number of 39,229 voters in its fold and holds the last position in all the five wards in terms of voters strength, saw 38.50 percent voting.

However, Rajendranagr ward witnessed a maximum polling Yesterday as 23, 338 out of 47,588 registered voters franchised their right to vote to push the total percentage up to 49.04 percent.

However, reports of missing voter names in electoral rolls start pouring in soon after the polling process begins in the morning. People in several areas under Rajendranagar were seen taking umbrage over the polling officials and staff for that they are not being allowed to vote despite having electoral photo identity cards and other credentials to prove themselves as a resident of Hyderabad.
