After floods and cash relief, residents put to test with delay in ration supply

Already perturbed with the ravaging floods and deprived by the cash relief later, the residents now have to suffer another whammy as no ration supply has started yet in several areas in the city and outskirts.

The first report of people expressing displeasure over not getting the ration this month emerged from the Rajendranagar area where Fair Price shops were seen almost empty with the stock and owners expressing regret saying the supply is not yet made to them.

Generally, the ration supply till the 25th of the month so to enable the distribution by 1st of every month. However, this month the granary has not yet reached us. The concerned officials are saying that in a day or two the supply will be restored. But the question is who will explain the same to people who are anxiously waiting for ration,” informed a ration dealer on the condition of anonymity.

Similar reports emerged from Sulaimannagar, Indranagar, Attapur, and surrounding areas where people time and again approached the FP shops only to return back empty-handed as the shops were seen semi-closed with no stock available. However, barring the above areas no such complaints were reported from any other habitations in the city making people clueless about what actually happened to the supply at the Rajendranagar area.

Even some of the FP shops in Hassan Nagar under Rajendranagar receive the stock. Gagan Pahad, an area very close to Hasan Nagar also got no issue with the supply as people here in this area were affirmed that they got the ration today itself.

“Though I have brought my ration today itself the situation like today often creates wherein the ration dealers say that they haven’t received any stockpile to distribute. This often happens once in every few months. However, in that case, too we would get the ration anyways,” explained Mahboob, a resident of Gagan Pahad.
