Arrangements in place for Eid at Mecca Masjid, over 8,000 Muslims to offer prayers

This Eid, more than 8,000 Muslims are expected to offer prayers at Mecca Masjid, the city’s landmark mosque. All the arrangements are in place to make it a success.

As a result of the efforts of the State government and Minority Welfare department, elaborate arrangements were made to allow thousands of Muslims to offer five-time prayers and Taraweeh prayers at the Mecca Masjid.

In Hyderabad, Mecca Masjid is considered the most sacred mosque, said the mosque’s superintendent MA Qadeer. Qadeer said that people find peace in the masjid, and over 8,000 Muslims will come here to pray on Eid. “Even after Eid, people still come here to pray and we have all the necessary arrangements in place,” he said.

In addition, he stated that the renovation of the mosque had been sanctioned by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at a cost of Rs 9 crore, which was the highest to date. He also said that the work is nearing completion.

He noted that the government provides thousands of kilograms of dates each Ramzan for iftar. Families and groups of friends gather at Masjid to break their fast. Over 3,000 people go to the Masjid to break their fast daily, he said.

Youth from different groups all over the city are also working together to distribute fruit packets to fasting Muslims each day at the historic Mecca Masjid, where many members of the Muslim faith gather to break their fasts.

It is the mission of Feeding Saturdays, Terminate Hunger, and WeForYouOrganisation from Hyderabad, to help the needy.

Iftari is organized at Mecca Masjid by these NGOs for people breaking their fast. Additionally, the organization Terminate Hunger has also taken up the responsibility of arranging food at other madrasas and masjids as well.
