Asaduddin Owaisi awarded As the ‘Parliamentarian of the year’

Lokmat Parliamentary Awards presented MP Asaduddin Owaisi with the title “Parliamentarian of the Year”.

The Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chairman announced his prize on Twitter, writing, “Just found out I’ve been named “Parliamentarian of the Year” by #LokmatParliamentaryAwards.” Thank you for the honour, @lokmat. MPs must hold the government accountable. From PMAY to #Pegasus to foreigners’ courts, I’ve used and will continue to use my position for the public benefit.”

It is worth noting that Owaisi was also awarded the same honour in 2019.

Every year, the Lokmat Parliamentary Awards are given to Indian parliamentarians for their contributions in eight distinct categories (four from the Lok Sabha and four from the Rajya Sabha). To determine the winners, the Board of Jury examined all MPs’ parliamentary contributions for the years 2020 and 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the awards ceremony had to be postponed for two years.

Eight Members of Parliament were chosen for the 4th Edition of the Lokmat Parliamentary Awards 2022, including veteran Congress leader A.K. Antony, BJD’s Bhartruhari Mahtab, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien, and NCP’s Vandana Chavan.

Antony and Mahtab were chosen for the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ category, Chavan and Chatterjee for the ‘Best Women Parliamentarian of the Year’ award, and Surya and Jha for the ‘Best Debutant’ award.

The Board Jury was headed by NCP president Sharad Pawar and comprised former Union Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad; Suresh Prabhu; RSP’s N.K. Premachandran; former Rajya Sabha secretary general Yogendra Narayan; founder Editor-in-Chief The Print, Shekhar Gupta; News Director, TV9 Bharatvarsh, Hemant Sharma; Lokmat editorial board chairman and former Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda; Senior Editor, Sharad Gupta, and National Editor, Lokmat group Harish Gupta.

The Board of Jury studied the parliamentary contribution for the years 2020 and 2021 of all MPS to select the winners.
