Baby girl born mid-air in IndiGo’s Bengaluru-Jaipur flight

In today’s journal of miraculous stories, a baby girl was delivered onboard a flight that took off from Bengaluru and was heading for Jaipur. The incident was narrated by the airline through an official statement.  

 

A doctor was present in the flight as one of the passengers and she helped in the process along with the cabin crew, according to the release.

“A baby girl was born mid-air onboard flight 6E 469 from Bangalore to Jaipur. The baby was delivered with the help of the IndiGo crew, effectively assisted by Dr. Subahana Nazir, travelling with us on the same flight,” the airline stated.  

In order to arrange for an ambulance and the required healthcare professionals, the destination airport was immediately informed about the incident. The staff of the Jaipur airport was ready to receive the baby and her mother whose health condition is stable, as per the airline.  

“Both the baby and mother are stable,” it said. The flight took off at 5.45 am in the wee hours of Wednesday from the Bengaluru airport and reached Jaipur at 8 am.  

As a gesture to express their thankfulness to Dr. Subahana Nazir for helping in the crucial and sudden event, the airline gave a token of gratitude to her.  

“Dr Nazir, who helped deliver the baby, was welcomed into the arrival hall and a thank you card was handed over by our Jaipur staff. Great teamwork by all our staff concerned,” the airline added.

A similar incident took place in another flight of IndiGo in October 2020. The Delhi to Bengaluru airplane witnessed an emergency from a mom-to-be who got the help from a doctor, fortunately on board. The cabin crew assisted the doctor who helped deliver a baby boy. 

Babies born mid air in flights have been given free tickets for their lifetime by certain airlines in foreign countries. No Indian carrier has made any such announcement yet.
