BRS Accuses Congress of ‘Note for Seat’ Scam Ahead of Elections

The governing Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana has accused Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption drive, notably senior leaders in the state, of being complicit in a ‘Note for Seat’ fraud.

This revelation comes amid mounting suspicions of corruption inside the Congress party, involving the selling of tickets and posts in advance of the state’s impending elections.

K. Vijay Kumar, the general secretary of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and a candidate for the Gadwal seat, has filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate. He charges TPCC president A Revanth Reddy of corruption, money laundering, and extortion in connection with the selling of tickets in this case.

In reaction to these charges, KT Rama Rao, the Minister of Information Technology and the BRS’s working president, issued a statement. While Rahul Gandhi speaks out against corruption, Congress leaders in Telangana have been filing charges with the Enforcement Directorate regarding the ‘Note for Seat’ Scam, which involves TPCC president A Revanth Reddy. This scandal calls into doubt the Congress party’s commitment to combating corruption.

Rama Rao alluded to Mahatma Gandhi’s advice that the Congress be abolished when India obtained independence, implying that such alleged corruption inside the party may be the basis for this recommendation.

This episode involving Revanth Reddy is not a unique instance, since charges of corruption involving the selling of jobs inside the TPCC have already surfaced. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, a Bhongir MP, had claimed that the then-AICC (All India Congress Committee) Telangana incharge, Manickam Tagore, was involved in similar transactions.

As the state’s elections approach, the BRS and other political parties are utilizing these claims to call into doubt the Congress party’s integrity on the topic of corruption.
