CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to Inaugurate Mallanna Sagar Reservoir

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the much-awaited Mallanna Sagar Reservoir of 50 tmc capacity on 23rd February.

The Chief Minister will formally release the water from the Pump House which aims to irrigate about 12 lakh acres. Earlier, the State government released water last year in September.

The Finance Minister reviewed the arrangements for the Chief Minister is to start Mallanna Sagar reservoir. This was built as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project to bring under irrigation nearby lands and push agricultural activities.

The project was earlier planned with 1.5 tmc capacity and later on increased to 50 tmc through a redesign program. With this, the total area of 8.33 lakh acres will be stabilized in Nizam Sagar, Ghanpur, and Singur. The agriculture lands under Gandhamalla, Konda Pochamma and Baswapur reservoirs some 12 lakh acres will be irrigated through this reservoir to be dedicated by the Chief Minister.
