Congress leader Shabbir Ali files Lunch motion petition in HC

Former minister and senior Congress leader Mohammad Ali Shabbir today filed a lunch motion petition before the high court of Telangana urging it to postpone the upcoming municipal elections scheduled to be held on April 30 of this month in two municipal corporations and five municipalities of the state.

In his petition, he told the High Court that Covid 19 virus cases were rising in a steep manner in the state and urged it to postpone the elections by considering the spike in the Covid 19 cases. He told the HC that the state government had already implemented night curfew in the state. However, the Chief Justice of the state Justice Hima Kohli declined to hear the lunch petition. She advised the petitioner to once again approach the State Election Commission (SEC) on the issue.
