Delhi Police: Section 144 Implemented Around India Gate, No Gatherings Permitted

New Delhi: On Friday, the Delhi Police department advised against any kind of gathering around India Gate because of the implementation of Section 144.

Police furthermore said that a crowd of up to 100 individuals is allowable at the Jantar Mantar, yet with an earlier consent of the competent authority.

PRO Delhi Police and DCP New Delhi, Eish Singhal announced: The general public is hereby informed that in view of DDMA order on September 3, a total gathering up to 100 persons is permissible at the designated place, i.e. Jantar Mantar and that too with the prior permission of the competent authority.


The rule comes after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has arranged a protest at the India Gate on Friday against the Hathras gang-rape and murder case.

Prior in the week, a significant protest was observed close to the India Gate, where a farm tractor was set on fire by a bunch of Congress workers during a protest against the farm laws. The Delhi Police took at least 10 individuals into custody in this association.
