Doctors Demand For Restrictive Lockdown Amidst Speedily Rising Covid 19 Cases

With Covid 19 pandemic spreading at a very high speed, the healthcare infrastructure is getting overwhelmed. The infrastructure reportedly requires an extraordinary response to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Doctors Demand Quick Actions Amidst Rising Cases  

As per the latest reports with the overwhelming cases of Coronavirus, the doctors have asked for a quick solution to curb the case. Naresh Trehan, a top cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon has said that one quick way to respond to the new variant of the Covid 19 virus is to have a “quick restrictive lockdown”.

He said that Maharashtra had taken a decision to curb the spread of the virus. Other states must make a fast move too. “Because time is precious”, said Naresh.

Talking about the magnitude of the situation, he said that the situation is getting worse and worse. The new strains of the virus is spreading at a double speed and even caught the medical fraternity by surprise.

Naresh Trehan is the Chairman of the Medanta Hospital chain in India. He added that the second wave of the Spanish flu was very devastating. In the same way, the second wave of Coronavirus is also swelling very fast every day. The difference between the figures of the first and second waves is huge. “Almost double”, he said.

Naresh Trehan Suggests Measures To Curb The Spread

Talking about containing the virus, Trehan said that the vaccination drive has to increase its speed. The base of testing centres must also be increased. At the same time, everyone has to be cautious, and wearing a face mask is a must. He said all of this is easier said than being implemented on the ground.

He further clarified that the new variants of the coronavirus are spreading at a much faster speed than before and have caught up to the young people and the children this time.

Talking about the gravity of the new virus variants, K.K Agarwal, Indian physician and former President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that the UK strain is majorly seen in Punjab. And it is affecting the population mostly under 45 years. Then the South African and the Brazilian Covid 19 variant is mainly traced in Maharashtra.

Agarwal further said seeing the current situation, a complete lockdown may not be practical. But a lot of time has already been lost. It is time to focus on healthcare and treatments amidst the rising admission numbers. He suggested that people should get tested as soon as the symptoms start to appear.
