Final date for 75% discount on unpaid challans extended till April 14

The Telangana home minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali announced that the concessional deadline on unpaid challans would be extended from March 31 to April 14.

As a result of several requests, state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed state officials to extend the “special” opportunity.

Of the 2.4 crore challans worth Rs 840 crore issued throughout the state, residents have paid Rs 250 crore so far to clear long-pending challans, according to the home minister.

The chief minister and the state police have taken this decision due to the financial hardships suffered by the poor and middle class due to COVID-19, he explained.

Mahmood Ali recommended that those who have not yet paid their challans take advantage of the discount and clear their challans via online payment on the E-challan website.

Here is a list of several types of discounts available to various types of vehicle owners:

  1. Hyderabad Traffic Department offers a 75% discount to people whose challans are unpaid for two-wheelers and three-wheelers.
  2. When RTC drivers pay 20-30% of the challan, the balance amount is ignored.
  3. The owners of four-wheelers such as cars, SUVs, and Jeeps that have paid the 50% of the challan do not need to pay the remaining balance.
  4. The fine for not wearing a mask has been reduced from Rs 1000 to Rs 100
