Goshamahal Constituency: A Fierce Battle for Hyderabad Votes

The Goshamahal assembly constituency in Hyderabad has become a battleground for several political parties, including the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the BJP.

The suspension of the sitting BJP MLA, Raja Singh, has resulted in conjecture about the BJP’s ambitions for Goshamahal.

Several politicians in the Congress have filed papers to run for Goshamahal and are seeking support from the party’s high command. Leaders like M Sai Kumar, Kareem Lala, Zaheer Lalani, and Madhusudan Gupta are among them. The constituency has a mixed demographic makeup, having a sizable Muslim, Christian, and BC voter population.

In recent years, Goshamahal has seen electoral battles, with the BJP winning in 2014 and 2018, and the Congress winning in 2009. The BRS ran for the seat in 2018, with the support of AIMIM, but did not win.

As the assembly elections approach, the political landscape in Goshamahal is changing, with numerous parties vying for crucial demographics such as Muslim votes. In the next months, competition for this critical demographic is expected to heat up.
