Govt to Give Only Second Vaccination Dose Suspends the First Dose Vaccination Temporarily

In order to overcome the shortage of the Covid 19 vaccine, the State government has decided to suspend the administration of the first dose of the vaccine on the people of the state.

It has decided to administer the second dose on all those who have already taken the first dose. It said that it was suspending the administration of the first dose till May 15.

The state government has said that a total of 11 lakh people were waiting for the second dose. The Chief Secretary of the State Somesh  Kumar had already written a letter to the central government urging it to provide 30 lakh doses of the vaccine to the state. However, the state has received 16 lakh doses of the vaccine so far.

The shortage of the doses has forced the health department of the state to suspend the vaccination program for three to four times in the state.

Night curfew extended till May 15

A day before it ends, Telangana Government today extended night curfew from May 8 to 15  from 8 pm to morning 5 am in the state.

The government has taken this decision to check Corona cases rise after high court asking for a possible weekend lockdown or increase in the timings for night curfew.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has issued orders in this refard.

In the GO 94 issued on Friday,  Somesh Kumar instructed the collectors, SPs and officials of all districts to strictly impose night curfew till next week.

These orders came at a time when cases slightly see decline and under control in Telangana as the Chief Secretary claimed.

The Chief Secretary has already announced that no lockdown will be imposed in the state as Telangana is far better than other states in terms of cases that are under control. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also during a review announced that the the lockdown is not the solution to end pandemic. Even lockdown imposed states see surge in cases while in Telangana the virus spread and cases are control, he said.

Political meetings banned

The state government also prohibited all kinds of social, political, entertainment, sports, and religious gatherings. It has issued orders to this effect. The orders will be in force till further orders.
