Hyderabad: AICTE approves OU’s new UG courses

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved Osmania university’s new undergraduate programs in Mining Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, and a postgraduate program in Mining for the 2022-23 academic year.

A total of 60 seats have been approved for the two UG courses launched last academic year under the self-financing category. In light of the high demand for these courses, Osmania university principal Dr. Sriram Venkatesh said that such recognition is essential and mandatory for us.

The college has also received approval to increase the number of students enrolled in the BE Electronics and Communication Engineering program from 50 to 60. Additionally, all existing undergraduate and postgraduate programs have been approved for 2022-23.

In response to the approval and recognition of the new ME program in mining, AICTE will offer scholarships worth Rs 13,000 to GATE-qualified students, said Venkatesh.

TS EAMCET-qualified students who have completed BiPC in Intermediate will get ten seats in the Bio-Medical Engineering program from 2022-23. Self-financing students must take a bridge course in mathematics and will be admitted under the self-financing category. Candidates who studied MPC in Intermediate have been the only ones admitted to this program so far.

Govt degree colleges offer AI, machine learning courses

A three-year degree program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is being offered by eleven autonomous government colleges this academic year.

A variety of engineering colleges in the State have so far offered AI and ML courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These 11 government degree colleges have decided to provide BSc in AI and ML due to the high demand among students and the promising career prospects available in this field for graduates.

Admissions to the new course will be conducted through Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST), for which a notification was issued. Due to their autonomous status, colleges design and develop their course curriculums.
