Hyderabad Breaks Records with 10 Lakh Biryani and 4 Lakh Haleem Orders During Ramzan

During the holy month of Ramzan, people in Hyderabad bought a remarkable 10 lakh biryanis and 4 lakh plates of haleem from major food-delivery site Swiggy.

Swiggy’s Ramzan order analysis report, issued on Friday, illustrates the city’s culinary habits throughout Ramzan.

According to the order analysis, typical Ramzan favourites including haleem, chicken biryani, and samosas remain the most popular foods.

Hyderabad, the country’s biryani capital, ordered a massive 10 lakh biryanis through Swiggy this Ramzan. This is a 20% increase over the same period previous year.

Over 4,00,000 orders for haleem, a Ramzan special meal, were placed for more than nine types, including chicken, palamuru pottel, Persian Special haleem, and dry fruit haleem. The city’s preferred version was mutton Haleem.

Orders for festive specialities such as Malpua, Firni, and Rabdi increased by 20%.

Crispy and spicy samosas and bhajiyas were popular at Iftar, or breaking the fast. Iftar favourites included samosas and bhajia, as well as dishes cooked with dates. The number of orders for bhajiyas increased by a stunning 77%.

The findings were based on an examination of Swiggy orders placed between March 23 and April 18.

During Iftar, Hyderabad’s favoured restaurants were Pista House Haleem, Paradise Biryani, and Mehfil. Swiggy has also created a unique OOH ad including an LED billboard to commemorate Ramzan. The billboards featuring a Haleem handi on a burner have been placed in Secunderabad and Tolichowki areas of Hyderabad.

Customers used Instamart for timely delivery of iftar needs such as dates and other dry fruits to break their fasts. This Ramzan, about half a million orders for dry fruits and dates were placed, with a considerable rise in the number of orders placed only for dates.
