Hyderabad: Citizens share photos, videos of lunar eclipse on social media

Another celestial event took place in Hyderabad on Tuesday after the recent partial solar eclipse. A number of citizens posted stunning photos and videos on social media of the total lunar eclipse during the event.

Reports say the eclipse started at 1:32 pm yesterday, and citizens were able to witness the celestial event from 5:40 pm to 6:19 pm. People were seen watching the eclipse at Birla Planetarium thanks to special arrangements.

Here are some images and videos:

The official Twitter account of NASA Moon tweeted, “On November 8, 2022, the Moon will pass into Earth’s shadow and turn red. This will be the last total lunar eclipse for about 3 years, so be sure to check it out if it’s visible in your area.”

The Rayleigh scattering effect causes the moon to turn red during a lunar eclipse. It is the same phenomenon that makes the sky blue and the sunset red.

As a result of the eclipse, temples across the State were closed on Tuesday. From 8 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday, Chilkur Balaji temple was reportedly closed for 20 hours.

Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy, Dharmapuri Laxminarsimha Swamy, Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy, and other temples in Telangana’s Karimnagar district decided to remain closed during the total lunar eclipse.

This was the last total lunar eclipse for about three years. In 2025, the next total lunar eclipse will occur on March 14.

While a special instrument is required to view a solar eclipse, there is no such requirement for a lunar eclipse.

Binoculars or telescopes, on the other hand, can be used to improve the view.

Though there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that the lunar eclipse affects pregnancy, many pregnant women believe that they must remain indoors during the event.
