Hyderabad: Exhibition stall in star hotel robbed of Rs.1 lakh

A temporary stall set up during an exhibition at a star hotel in Banjara Hills was allegedly robbed by unidentified persons of Rs.1 lakh.

The incident could have taken place between March 29 and 30 at the exhibition, according to Sandeep Sharma, the complainant and organizer of the stall.

The organiser notified the hotel security after realizing that the cash had gone missing from the counter.

The footage from the surveillance camera revealed an unidentified woman moving around suspiciously at the counter. Punjagutta police have begun an investigation. The investigation is focused on identifying the woman.

In another case, the KPHB police arrested and remanded in custody a woman accused of breaking into a house and stealing gold jewellery and a cell phone.

Detective SI Shyambabu said, Rajeshwar Reddy, a resident of Dharma Reddy LIG Homes in KPHB Colony, was at his home working as part of his ‘work from home’ job while his wife went upstairs to do the laundry.

In the meantime, Lakshmi alias Halima Begum (36), broke into Rajeshwar Reddy’s house and took gold jewellery and a cell phone from the cupboard.

Lakshmi was arrested on Saturday by police after Rajeshwar Reddy filed a complaint about her. They seized gold jewellery from her and remanded her into custody.

In yet another case of theft, a makeup artist was arrested by Malkajgiri police on charges of stealing a gold chain at a cradle ceremony.

Zainab Begum (30), a resident of Yakutpura, an assistant of Nishitha, a hairstylist, attended a cradle ceremony of her friend T.Swapna’s child, held at a banquet hall in Malkajgiri.

Police said that Swapna had given her bag to Zainab Begum at the time of the photo session. After reaching her home, Swapna realised a 4.5 tola gold chain was missing.

Malkajgiri police filed a case and took Zainab Begum into custody, who later confessed to the crime.
