Hyderabad receives another spell of massive rains

On Sunday night, the city received another bout of intense rains accompanied by thunder and lightning. In many parts of the city, traffic jams and water logging have resulted from the rains.

In the wake of a massive storm in the city that washed away many vehicles, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Disaster Response Force (DRF) retrieved 19 bikes from city nalas on Sunday.

Following the heavy rain, the DRF team responded to 59 complaints in the city. There were 15 complaints about water stagnation, 25 about uprooted trees and tree branches obstructing traffic, and 19 about vehicles washed away in nala.

Citizens may contact the DRF at 040-29555500 for assistance

Videos from various parts of the city have been shared online of the heavy downpour. There are some who even say the weather looks apocalyptic.

It is advisable for residents to remain vigilant and to take the necessary precautions. Travel should be avoided during the heavy downpour, and staying indoors is recommended.

Heavy rains are expected to continue in the south and west of Hyderabad for the next one to two hours. Several netizens have posted rain updates on Twitter, warning others to stay indoors.

The heavy rains have caused power outages in many areas of Jubilee Hills, with some residents venting on social media about being without power for nearly 13 hours. Major traffic jams were also reported in the area overnight, as the rain caused road waterlogging.

The Khajaguda area also received significant rainfall, with 96 mm recorded, followed by the Kakatiya Hills in Madhapur, which received 68.8 mm. The weather department has forecast scattered rains across the city for the next three days, and residents have been advised to take appropriate precautions and remain indoors during the heavy downpour.
