Hyderabad to build 300 electric vehicle charging stations

Approximately 300 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed throughout Hyderabad in an effort to encourage electric vehicle use. Within the boundaries of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, they will be installed.

According to an official from Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), the charging rate will be revised from Rs 18 kilowatt per hour (kWh).

These EV charging stations will be installed in many places including Indira Park, KBR Park Gate1, Santosh Nagar (near Owaisi Hospital), and Uppal metro station parking lots.

GHMC’s Standing Committee will approve the proposal to set up charging stations within its jurisdiction soon, a GHMC official added, explaining the plan was to install one charging station every three kilometers, expanding the number on demand.

In accordance with a revenue-sharing agreement, GHMC and TSREDCO will install the facilities.

The city currently has 150 electric vehicle charging stations. The stations were located close to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited stations, railroad stations, and petrol bunks. As part of its efforts to promote the use of electric vehicles, Telangana’s government has launched TSEV – Telangana’s first electric mobility awareness web portal, hosted by TSREDCO, the state’s nodal agency for charging stations, which facilitates the growth of EVs.

Secunderabad Division’s railway stations to have EV charging stations

A major boost to the evolution of E-mobility has been achieved by South Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division which has awarded a contract to construct E-Vehicle charging stations at 32 outstanding railway stations in Secunderabad.

As well as facilitating low maintenance requirements, e-mobility reduces carbon emissions and enhances the quality of life. As the use of electric vehicles increases, the provision of charging points at train stations will provide additional facilities for passengers.
