The Telangana government has set in motion plans to alleviate traffic congestion in Hyderabad’s city center by proposing the construction of bridges spanning the Musi River, covering a distance of approximately 55 km from Narsingi to Gowrelly.
In response to the growing traffic demands and urban developments, a comprehensive study has been conducted to assess the necessity for additional bridges over the Musi River. The Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA) has put forth a proposal to build five four-lane bridges across the Musi River.
The government has granted administrative approval for a total budget of Rs 168.00 crore, and the following bridges are included in the HMDA’s plans:
- Bridge-I at Budvel IT Park (on Esa)
- Bridge-II at Budvel IT Park (on Esa)
- Bridge at Manchirevula (on Musi)
- Bridge at HMDA layout Uppal Bhagayath (on Musi)
- Bridge at Pratap Singaram (on Musi)

Tenders have been issued for all five bridges as part of a single package, under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, with an estimated value of Rs 139.00 crore. The construction of these bridges is scheduled to commence shortly, with a completion timeline of 15 months.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, is expected to inaugurate the foundation stone-laying ceremony for all five bridges at a centralized location in Uppal Bhagayath on September 25.
