KCR Launches Campaign for Telangana Polls, Highlights KLIS Ambitions

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, widely known as KCR, launched his election campaign for the Telangana Assembly elections on August 23 with a public address in the Gummadidala mandal of Sangareddy district. This was his first public appearance since announcing the party’s candidates for the Assembly elections earlier this week.

During his speech, CM KCR informed the public that water from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) will be delivered to the Patancheru constituency shortly. He stressed the significance of re-electing Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy to ensure the fulfillment of their KLIS water ambitions.

KCR traveled by vehicle from Hyderabad to Medak as part of his electoral campaign. During his tour, he stopped in Gummadidala, Patancheru constituency, and was greeted cordially by MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy and other BRS leaders and supporters. Following that, he inaugurated the District Offices Complex, the BRS District office, and the Superintendent of Police’s office in Medak.

The chief minister also held a public meeting in the district, formally launching his election campaign. In 2014, the BRS, formerly known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), formed the first administration in the newly formed state of Telangana. It kept power in 2018, when KCR moved the elections a few months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

If the BRS secures victory in the next Assembly elections, KCR will become the first leader in South India to serve as Chief Minister for a third straight term.
