On Friday, more than 40 girls at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Amarchinta in Hyderabad became ill as a result of food poisoning. The females apparently eaten contaminated food for dinner the night before in their hostel mess, resulting in symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach ache.
Despite their distress, the girls were not sent to a hospital during the night shift because there was only one teacher on duty. Only after their condition worsened in the morning were they ultimately transferred to Amarchinta government hospital for treatment.
Eight of the pupils were in critical condition and were taken to Wanaparthy District Hospital. Their condition improved after they received proper medical attention. Due to the high cost of fresh tomatoes, the students said that the dinner they ate was made using low-quality ingredients, including rotting tomatoes

Tejas Nandlal Pawar, the district collector, visited Wanaparthy District Hospital and observed the wards where the students were being treated in response to the event. He launched an investigation to discover the source of the food poisoning and committed to take action against those involved. Pawar emphasised the importance of sanitation and hygiene in food preparation in government schools and hostels, ordering officials to prioritise these factors.
