No Risk Of Blood Clotting From Covid Vaccine AstraZeneca; Experts

After many rumours and misconceptions regarding the Covid 19 vaccines, a high-level government panel said that there are no risks of blood clotting because of the two vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin) approved by the Drugs Controller General of India.

European Nations Resume Covid Vaccines

A few days ago, several European nations paused the Covid 19 vaccines, AstraZeneca rollout over the fears of blood clots. However, last week they resumed the vaccination roll out as the European medical regulator confirmed that the vaccination was safe and effective.

The National Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) Committee said that they had analyzed over 400 reactions for the vaccination drive. After the study, they came to the conclusion that there were no unusual bleedings or clothing because of Covishield or Covaxin.

However, the government will keep the investigations and study going on.

A few days ago the World Health Organization Global Advisory Committee also addressed the vaccine safety concerns. They said that the AstraZeneca Covid 19 vaccine has a positive benefit-risk profile. They confirmed that the vaccine has “tremendous potential” to prevent infections and reduce the number of deaths across the world.

India Approves AstraZeneca Vaccines

The Serum Institute of India collaborated with the Oxford University and the British-Swedish pharmaceutical to develop the Covid 19 vaccine AstraZeneca. India began the public rollout of the vaccines on March 1, 2021, for the people above 60 years and for the ones above 45 years with serious medical concerns.

So far, five crores doses of the vaccines have been rolled out in India. The first phase of the covid vaccine started on January 16, 2021. The first phase prioritized the health workers and the frontline workers.

As per the Health Ministry of India, becoming a part of the world’s largest vaccination drive, a total of 32,53,095 Covid 19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. This is the highest number to have reached so far.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said last week that India aims to vaccinate 30 crores of citizens by July this year. India also plans to export vaccines to 70 other countries as part of the global vaccine policy.
