Officials Directed to Monitor Situation Continuously in Bhadrachalam

With the Godavari rising to alarming level at Bhadrachalam, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to monitor the situation continuously.

Accordingly, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Friday held a Teleconference with  Collector and SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem district along with senior irrigation officials and took stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken up in the district.

During the teleconference,  Minister for Transport  Puvvada Ajay Kumar thanked the Chief Minister for continuously monitoring the situation and providing timely support by way of men and material.

The Chief Secretary said the NDRF, Army and Singareni and other rescue teams dispatched to the district will effectively deliver the services if they are stationed at Bhadrachalm and Kothagudem towns.

On the occasion, Somesh Kumar directed that the administration should be geared up to tackle the situation even if the flood reaches 80 feet.

“People living in the villages and areas which are likely to get inundated have to be evacuated and shifted to special camps. 10 NDRF teams, 5 teams from the Army and rescue team from Singareni is already stationed at Bhadrachalam,” he said.

The Chief Secretary reiterated that the main focus should be to ensure that there is no loss of human life during the floods.

Stating that effective measures should also be taken to see that there is no major loss to property,  the Chief Secretary asked the Collector to take necessary steps to provide basic amenities in all the relief camps.

The Airforce helicopter will be stationed at ITC Bhadrachalam on Friday night. 4 NDRF teams will reach Bhadrachalam.  Four senior RDOs have been appointed to support the district administration in the relief and rescue operations.  Boats, buses and trucks are also being sent to Bhadrachalam, he said.

DGP Mahender Reddy said senior police officials have been entrusted the job to coordinate and monitor the relief and rescue operations.

Secretary Disaster Management Rahul Bojja, Secretary PR&RD Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Director Prohibition and Excise Sarfaraz Ahmad, Director CCLA Rajat Kumar Saini, Director PR&RD M.Hanumatha Rao and other senior officials participated in the teleconference.
