Over 40 Students at Telangana Girls’ Hostel Fall Ill Due to Food Contamination

According to a video posted on social media on Friday, more than 40 students at the ST girls’ hostel in Mannanur, Nagarkurnool, became unwell owing to food contamination and had to be transferred to a neighboring hospital in a truck.

After eating dinner at the hostel, the students felt ill, with eleven of them feeling severe abdominal discomfort and difficulties breathing. As their condition deteriorated, school personnel decided to seek medical attention and took them to the nearest government hospital.

According to reports, four girls being treated at Nagarkurnool Hospital are in severe condition. The pupils involved claim that the food served to them was tainted and of poor quality. They also claimed to have protested to authorities several times, with no action taken in response.

The release of the video raised concerns about the lack of 108 and 104 ambulances, which may have led to the school staff using a truck for transportation. Food poisoning incidences have been reported on a frequent basis in Telangana, prompting some to ask for regular audits of food safety and regulations.

The incident emphasizes the importance of food safety and the necessity for stringent controls to prevent contamination in meals served to students and other vulnerable populations.
