Police in Hyderabad step up enforcement against violators

Hyderabad traffic police maintained their crackdown on tinted windows on vehicles and faulty number plates in the city, filing cases against those who were discovered to have tampered with the registration number plates.

Vehicles were confiscated in cases of counterfeit number plates and deletion of digits/letters, according to AV Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Hyderabad. With the paperwork, traffic officers will verify the registration number on the vehicle number plate. Those who tamper with the registration number of the vehicle and drive it on the road will face criminal charges, he stated.

According to Ranganath, defective and faulty car number plates have various security and law and order consequences, and incorrect number plates could mislead law enforcement agents in the detection or investigation of any incident.

According to the traffic police, even writings such as ‘Police, Government vehicle, Press, Corporator, Army, MLA, and MP’ will draw cases. All of the foregoing are violations of Sections 50, 51, and 52 of the Motor Vehicle Rules, the official explained.

Regarding the tinted glasses, the Joint Commissioner of Police stated that it was noted that people were pulling out their vehicles at strange hours, particularly at night, to avoid being caught. “Night time traffic checks will also be done to apprehend such individuals.” Those who violate the MV Act would face a challan of up to Rs 1,000,” he warned.

He went on to say that a conference was conducted with the owners of car decor and accessory shops and that they were advised that action will be taken against them if necessary. He stressed that it is forbidden to employ any material, including sun shades and curtains, that interferes with the unobstructed view inside the vehicle.
