Rehabilitation Network Suggests Human Body Movements for Post Covid Recovery; Getting Back To Quality Life

There have been reports that people are suffering from ‘survivor’s guilt” after recovering from Covid 19. Following this, Johns Hopkins Medicine Rehabilitation Network has prescribed a rehabilitation program for Covid 19 patients after recovering.

As per the latest reports, experts at the Johns Hopkins Medicines have said that they aim to restore the whole person and help them return to their previous quality of life. After an experience with physical impairments (like weakness, fatigue, and shortness of breath along with difficulty in breathing and performing daily life tasks), it is natural to feel stress. And this negatively affects the mind. Fear and depression can both impact the health of the person.

If intervened early and encouraged to exercise and actively treat the person would play an important role in the recovery process post-Covid 19. It can also be started at home during the self-isolation period.

They said that the solution is to keep moving. Movement in the body helps in healing and restores the mind and emotions. By engaging in movements that your body is already used to, the process of recovery and healing can be fastened.

Experts Suggest Five Layers of Human Movement

The experts added that there are five layers of human movements – Breathe Deep, breathe deeply, filling the lungs up from the bottom to the top.

At first, turn on the vestibular system. It controls the balance and sensory input from the body. To kick start it, move your head and eyes.

The next step is to cross your body. In this, engage your body in crossbody patterns like walking, crawling, and marching. The next steps include building strength by increasing muscle strength. And the final step is gaining endurance by increasing tolerance for physical activities and movements.
