Hyderabad: Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan launched a sanitation special drive in Vijaya Nagar Colony, Masab Tank Mehidipatnam circle area here today. Speaking on the occasion Mayor said due to recent incessant rains and followed by floods in the city huge quantity of debris, garbage, and discarded material accumulated in nalas and in inundation colonies and bastis and on roads in GHMC and surrounding municipalities.
Since, there is a chance of spread of seasonal and communicable diseases, as per the instructions of the Chief Minister K.Chandra Shekar Rao and as per the directions of the Minister K Taraka Rama Rao GHMC undertaken a special intensive sanitation drive in the city to keep the city clean.

Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan released Gambusia fish in the tank in ITI institute, speaking on the occasion he said, for the special sanitation drive apart from 242 Vehicles, additional 536 vehicles total 778 vehicles and 23,000 with additional 4,500 workers deployed from sanitation, entomology, and other wings to remove the debris in the special intensive drive.
GHMC daily removing 5,600 tons of debris and garbage being removed, so far about 1 lakh tons of garbage and debris has been removed and still, it is estimated about 30,000 tons of debris to be removed. Additional Commissioner Rahul Raj, Zonal Commissioner Ms. Praveenya, Chief Entomologist Sri. Rambabu, AMOH, Senior Entomologist, and others participated in the program.
