Tackle 3rd Wave, Omicron Less Severe, Avoid Fear, Gatherings : Harish Rao

Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao today instructed the officials of the health wing to get ready with more equipment and facilities to tackle corona third wave.

Harish Rao held a Tele-conference with the health officials from the state and districts. With director of health Dr Srinivas Rao and others, the minister said that the health officials and staff should complete the second dose vaccination. Complete the second dose by speeding up the process, he said adding that the people should follow corona protocols. Having achieved 100 percent of the first dose we have to cover 16 years, he said. Harish also asked the health teams to ensure that 60 plus age group people get booster doses.

Allaying fears on third-wave he said that the state is fully prepared to tackle it and people should avoid fear of Omicron spreading fast. Though it spreads speedily Omicron is less severe and speedy recovery. We have reports that omicron will not lead to health problems and avoids hospitalization as the people with symptoms are recovering in just five days. It spreads six times faster and needs seven days of quarantine if it has symptoms. We check international travelers to be put in seven days of home quarantine, he said.

The officials informed that they disbursed one crore isolation kits and two crores of testing kits to districts and mandals.  Rao said that more tests have to be conducted and vaccination as well to check the spread of omicron virus. It is less dangerous and people should avoid negligence and fear to wear masks and take jabs, he said.

The people should not worry and fear for Omicron as it will diminish in February after a surge, Harish Rao said.

Harish Rao instructed the people to wear masks, sanitize hands, take vaccines and maintain physical distance to avoid virus spread. The health department is ready with more officials, medicines, and beds to treat and tackle the cases of corona and Omicron variants.
