Telangana: CM KCR to carry out aerial survey of flood affected areas tomorrow

Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to conduct an aerial survey of rain and flood-hit areas in Telangana tomorrow. The aerial survey will cover the Godavari catchment area, from the badly damaged Kadem project in Nirmal district to Bhadrachalam temple town.

The Telangana CM will be accompanied by State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar during the aerial survey.

Meanwhile, state Health Minister T Harish Rao will meet with senior officials and doctors to discuss preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

To prepare for the CM’s visit tomorrow, the Health Department is finalizing health-related issues.

On Friday, water levels in the Godavari river at Bhadrachalam rose to 70 feet, way above the third warning level, causing floods at several places in Bhadradri-Kothagudem.

More than 10,000 people were relocated to relief camps with the help of the Telangana government.

At 7 p.m., the water level in the Godavari was 70.70 ft. A mass rise of this magnitude occurred at Bhadrachalam in 1986, residents recalled.

Residents living in vulnerable areas were urged to move into relief camps as soon as possible.

Rao has requested that the Chief Secretary make a helicopter available following a request from Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, who is overseeing the relief efforts in Bhadrachalam.

In response to the CM’s directives, the Chief Secretary spoke to Army officials and requested that they aid in the flood-affected district.

A total of seven boats and 210 life jackets have also been sent by the Fire and Rescue services department.
