Telangana: State govt’s free rice scheme benefiting poor

A free rice scheme launched by the Telangana government, under which 10 kg of rice is distributed free of charge to eligible cardholders, is benefiting the state’s poor people.

For the past three years, the state government has provided free rice to the people of the state.

A long line of beneficiaries was seen waiting outside the ration shop to collect rice. The beneficiaries thanked CM K Chandrashekar Rao and applauded the initiative.

Ratan Singh, one of the beneficiaries, stated that the KCR government is providing free rice and that the people are pleased with the state government’s initiative.

“We get between 200 and 300 quintals of rice. Everyone is pleased,” he said.

Pinky, another beneficiary, stated that her family has been receiving free rice for three years.

“I thank CM KCR. I am a widow and free rice is very helpful. We get around 40 kg of rice,” she said.

Sultana Begum stated that her family has received free rice since KCR came to power,

“If this continues we will be very grateful to KCR. We get the ration on time. Earlier we used to get 6 kgs of rice but now we are getting 10 kgs,” she said.

Another scheme beneficiary, Syed Mustafa, praised the government’s initiative.

“We’ve been receiving free rice for three years. CM KCR is doing an excellent job. We’re also getting fine rice,” he added.

According to a scheme beneficiary, adequate quantities of rice have been distributed under the scheme since TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took power.

Rice is distributed to all eligible families in the state through the Public Distribution System (PDS).
