Telangana: TSRTC urges public to use special buses for Sankranti

On Friday, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) managing director VC Sajjanar met with officials from the transport and police departments for a coordination meeting.

TSRTC officials showed a presentation on the measures taken to address passenger crowding issues, as well as the arrangement of special buses to ensure the safe arrival of passengers during the upcoming Sankranti festive season, at the meeting.

During the meeting, Sajjanar stated that authorities have been tasked with informing the public about the dangers of travelling in private vehicles. He instructed people to take TSRTC buses to their destinations.

For Sankranti, 4,233 special buses have been organised, including 1184 from JBS, 1133 from LB Nagar, 814 from Aramghar, 683 from Uppal, and 419 from KPHB/BHEL.

The TSRTC anticipates a surge in traffic between January 10 and 14.

Sajjanar requested that the police and transportation officials work with TSRTC to monitor any private vehicle transportation.

TSRTC reports that 585 buses have been reserved ahead of time, which can be found on their website.

Buses will leave from JBS, Khammam, and Nalgonda for Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Medak. Buses to Vijayawada will depart from L B Nagar; buses to Mahabubnagar and Kurnool will depart from Aramghar and Warangal; and buses to Thorur will depart from Uppal, Sathupalli, and Bhadrachalam.

TSRTC to launch drinking water bottle

As per reports, the TSRTC is said to have launched the ‘ZIVA’ brand of packaged drinking water. In the presence of TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan and Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar launched the water bottles at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS).

The corporation, with the tagline ‘Spring of Life,’ will introduce one-litre water bottles tomorrow and will soon include 250 ml and half-litre bottles. These water bottles will be distributed free of charge to RTC AC bus passengers and sold at the stalls in the bus stands.
