T’gana records 472 new Covid cases taking tally to 2,84,863

Hyderabad: Two more people have succumbed to covid-19 while 472 new covid cases were reported in Telangana on Sunday the health official said.

From the last 24 hours new 472 positive cases were reported from across the state taking the state total going up to 2,84,86 3.

The fresh cases pushed the state tally to 1531 and the fatality rate remains 53 percent against the national average of 1.4 percent.

According to the director of public health and family welfare, 44.96 percent of the death occurred due to covid-19 while 55.04 percent has comorbidities.

The GHMC Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation has reported 106 new cases. Medchal Malkajgii district saw the second-highest number of new cases at 45, Rangareddy with 44 new cases, Nalgonda with 23 new cases, Mancherial with 19 new cases, Warangal urban with 18 and Karimnagar with 17 new covid cases.

From the last 24 hours, 509 has recovered from covid, which takes the cumulative covid numbers to 2,76,753 the recovery rate stands at 97.15 percent as against the national average of 95.8 percent.

At present, the number of positive covid cases in the state is 6,579 from which 4,426 people are in-home or institutional quarantine, and more than 90 percent of beds in government and private hospitals that are treating covid19 in-state are vacant.

Off 8,559 beds available in 61 government hospitals treating Covid-19 and 7,801 beds were vacant. As many as 758 people were going through treatment at these hospitals.
Similarly, in 219 private hospitals treating Covid, only 1,395 beds were occupied. Of 7,783 beds, 6,388 were vacant.

37,347 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, government-run laboratories tested 34,135 while the remaining 3,212 samples were tested in private labs and samples tested per million population ratio rose further to 1,80,647 and The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day, officials said.
In-state there are 18 government-run laboratories, 56 private laboratories, and 1,076 Rapid Antigen test centers that are conducting the tests for covid-19
