The Neera Café is set to debut in August

Having received the license from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the Telangana government will open Neera Cafe in August.

A policy for the development and welfare of toddy tappers in the state has been adopted ambitiously by Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud. An essential milestone in the Neera policy was obtaining a licence from the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) to manufacture, pack and sell Neera, Neera by-products, jaggery, sugar, Neera syrups, and other by-products.

According to Srinivas Goud, it is the greatest period of Neera’s history. In accordance with the minister’s claims, Neera and toddy are also consumed by gods because of their medicinal properties, which he said can cure cancer, kidney diseases, and nerve weakness. It was banned by the earlier governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh produce such a product. Goud said that the chief minister had brought a policy on Neera because he recognized the value of the product.

It will cost Rs 10 crore to build the ambitious Neera Cafe at Necklace Roads. During the month of August, the cafe will open its doors. We are fortunate to have been granted the FSSAI license to sell the product. We will soon begin procuring Neera from the collection centres. We are trying to open a cafe like this in every district,” said Goud.

In the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, Nandanam village is the first centre for producing neera. In Sangareddy district, Munipally village, and Charikonda village are the second centres.

Last year after reviewing the progress of the upcoming Neera Café on Necklace Road, he said, that the use of tea and toddy, which can cure 15 different diseases, has been banned.

Toddy tappers are only offered welfare schemes in Telangana, the Minister said, adding that they would receive ex-gratia similar to Rythu Bima if they die accidentally.
