Utsav Samithi wants Govt. to pass ordinance for Ganesh Visarjan

Blaming the government for the present turmoil over the Ganesh Visarjan procession, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi leaders urged the government to call emergency cabinet meeting to pass an ordinance for the smooth conduct of the procession in the state.

While addressing a press conference today here in the city, General Secretary Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Bhagwanth Rao said “As per the court order we cannot be able to immersed idols at any water body anywhere in the state. This order came as the estate government failed to represent the case properly. Hence, we demand the state government to call an emergency cabinet meeting and pass an ordinance to clear the hurdle in the way of Ganesh Visarjan procession.”

During today’s meeting, he said, the leaders of Bhagya Nagar Ganesh Utsov Samithi has discuss in length the inefficient state of the government that resulted into such a volatile situation wherein we can’t even perform our religious duties properly.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the Telangana High Court has banned immersion of Ganesh idols made up of Plastic of Paris (POP) into Hussain Sagar Lake recently that creates outrage among some Hindu fringe groups especially the Bhagya Nagar Ganesh Utsov Samithi whose leaders are now talking in defiant tone.

In a bid to simmer down the outrage, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has filed an appeal in Apex Court against the decision of Telangana High Court. Admitting the appeal, the apex body has posted the matter on September 16 while the Ganesh procession is scheduled to be held on September 19.

General Secretary of the Committee Dr.Bhagwanth Rao while addressing the media today here said, “The court’s directives are for state government and not for the Utsav committee. Now it is for the government to take a call, we would just wait by the time. We will react after the government’s move and will take a decision following due deliberating with the religious clergy,” he asserted.
