GHMC decides to double the monthly charges for waste collection

According to the latest reports, the GHMC has decided to double the monthly charges that residents must pay to waste collectors for garbage collection and transportation from their homes via Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs), tricycles, and waste collectors.

Currently, each household in GHMC limits must pay Rs 50 per month in planned/unplanned colonies, and Rs 25 in slums. The decision to raise the charge to Rs 100 per month for colony residents and Rs 50 per month for those living in slums will be presented to the GHMC Standing Committee which is scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi on Tuesday inaugurated three vacuum dewatered cement concrete (VDCC) roads and a box drain in Banjara Hills ward.

While the three VDCC roads in the residential areas near the Uday Nagar main road cost Rs 32 lakh, the Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) box drain on Bulkapur Nala in Prem Nagar cost Rs 77 lakh.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of National Dengue Day on May 16, the Mayor distributed pamphlets with messages on how to avoid dengue and malaria. She also inspected the work being done to strengthen the sewerage network in NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills, and stated that the roads excavated for laying the sewerage pipelines would be restored as soon as they were completed.
