Komatireddy Venkat Reddy meets newly appointed AICC in-charge for Telangana

As per the latest reports, Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who was recently issued show cause notice by the party for alleged act of indiscipline, met with newly appointed AICC in-charge for Telangana Manikrao Thakare on Thursday.

After the meeting, the MP told reporters that he couldn’t call on the in-charge on Wednesday because he was visiting his constituency. He did not reveal what he discussed with the new in-charge, claiming it was a party internal matter.

Venkat Reddy, on the other hand, appeared defiant, saying that the media should question MLAs Seethakka, Veeraiah, and Jagga Reddy about why they did not meet Thakare on Wednesday. He also stated that he does not want to sit with those who lost elections 4-5 times.

Apparently aimed at Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief A. Revanth Reddy, Venkat Reddy stated that TPCC committees have no significance for him.

His remark comes after a group of senior leaders recently raised a revolt banner against Revanth Reddy for filling party panels with his loyalists. The crisis compelled the party’s central leadership to intervene and replace Manikam Tagore as state in-charge with Manikrao Thakare in order to restore order.

Thakare arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday, his first visit to Telangana, and has been meeting with party leaders.

Venkat Reddy also told the media that the show cause notice is no longer an issue because it has become clear that the video which was circulated on social media was fake.

On October 22, Congress general secretary Tariq Anwar issued a notice to the Lok Sabha member, requesting a response within 10 days.

The notice was issued after a voice recording in which Venkat Reddy is heard asking a Congress leader to support BJP candidate and his brother Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy in the Munugode by-election went viral on social media.

A video clip has also gone viral in which Venkat Reddy is heard predicting that Congress will lose the by-election to Munugode Assembly seat.

Venkat Reddy, the Congress party’s star campaigner, did not campaign for the party in Munugode. Rajagopal Reddy, Venkat Reddy’s brother, resigned as an MLA and left the Congress to join the BJP. He ran as a BJP candidate but lost to the candidate of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

When Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through Telangana, the MP also stayed away.

Last month, he also embarrassed the party by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed he did not discuss politics, but he made certain comments that kept everyone guessing about his next move. “I will make a decision a month before elections are to be held. I will decide whether I contest for the Lok Sabha or for the Assembly. I will make up my mind on which party I will choose at that time,” he had said.
