Telangana attracted big investments from major corporations this year

Telangana has attracted investments from major corporate giants in 2022, whether in aerospace, dairy, IT, pharma, automobile, or other sectors, and more appears to be on the way before the fiscal year ends.

To date this year, a staggering Rs 19,630 crore in investments has landed in Telangana, employing over 70,000 people.

In addition to these investments, Rs 1,11,000 crore in investment has been announced since January.

All of these investments would be implemented over the next two to three years, employing over 63,000 people. Telangana’s dynamic and business-friendly policies are attracting massive investments.

Managements, both corporate giants and startups, are applauding Telangana’s leadership in creating a hassle-free environment for approvals through TS-iPASS.

To begin with, Rajesh Exports (Elest), a Fortune 500 company, announced the establishment of India’s first Display FAB to manufacture the most advanced AMOLED displays, with an investment of Rs 24,000 crore. It would be one of India’s largest high-tech manufacturing investments.

After Mumbai in India, Amazon Web Services has announced the launch of its second AWS infrastructure region, the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region.

AWS plans to invest approximately Rs 36,300 crore in this new region by 2030. The investment will support over 48,000 full-time jobs each year.

Microsoft announced a Rs 15,000 crore investment to build India’s largest data centre in Hyderabad.

The new data centre will provide advanced data security, cloud solutions, and customer relationship management (CRM), productivity tools, and Artificial Intelligence to help developers, government institutions, education, startups, and enterprises.

Qualcomm, an American multinational corporation, opened its second-largest campus outside the United States in Hyderabad in October.

Over the next five years, the global technology behemoth will invest Rs 3,904.55 crore to expand its Hyderabad operations. Google has opened its largest campus outside of its Mountain View headquarters in the United States, a 3.3 million square foot energy-efficient campus in Hyderabad.

Apart from the IT sector, industry titans in the aerospace sector also arrived in Hyderabad this year to establish their operations.

French major Safran decided to open an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility for aircraft engines in Hyderabad. The facility, which will cost Rs 1,200 crore to build, is expected to create 1,000 high-skilled jobs.

Industries Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated the Safran Electrical & Power factories, which will manufacture engine wire harnesses, and the Safran Aircraft engine factory, which will produce critical aero engine parts for LEAP engines.

In Telangana, Stadler Rail is establishing a Rail Coach manufacturing facility. This is a joint venture between Medha Servo Drives and Stadler Rail that will invest Rs 1,000 crore and create 2,500 jobs.

Besides this, battery manufacturers are lining up to establish plants in Telangana. Agger Technologies Private Limited agreed to invest Rs 660 crore in manufacturing Li batteries and cells with the Telangana government.

Amara Raja Batteries Limited, meanwhile, announced plans to invest Rs 9,500 crore in Mahabubnagar over a 10-year period by setting up a 16 GWh capacity Lithium Cell Gigafactory and a 5 GWh capacity Battery Pack Assembly Unit. The unit will come up at Divitipalli and create jobs for about 4,500 people.

Telangana is also becoming a hub for the automobile industry. Hyundai announced an investment of Rs 1,400 crore this year to establish test tracks in the proposed Telangana Mobility Valley. In addition, the company will be a stakeholder and consortium partner in the world’s first Mobility Valley.

“Telangana is very proud of what the Mahindra Group has been able to achieve in the State, through the roll-out of its 3,00,000 Telangana-made tractors. We look forward to Mahindra’s next milestone in tractor production in the next few years.” Industries Minister said as the company’s 3,00,000th tractor was rolled out from the company’s Zaheerabad unit. MRF India, the tyres major, announced a Rs 1,000 crore investment to expand its facility and create a new specialty assembly line at Sangareddy.

KTR team returns with Rs 8,000 crore US investments

Biliti Electric, based in California, is establishing a factory in Telangana with a capacity of producing 2,40,000 EVs per year. Biliti Electric’s Telangana factory, led by Rahul Gayam, a Hyderabad-born entrepreneur, aims to become the world’s largest electric three-wheeler factory.

The company currently manufactures its electric three-wheelers through an exclusive manufacturing partnership with Gayam Motor Works in Hyderabad (GMW). The new Biliti Electric plant is expected to create 3,000 jobs.

Fisker Inc, a California-based electric vehicle and advanced mobility solutions provider, has established its India headquarters in Hyderabad.

The company’s operating entity in Telangana, Fisker Vigyan India Private Limited, will concentrate on software development and embedded electronics, virtual vehicle development support functions, data analytics, and machine learning.

Telangana, like the IT and automobile sectors, drew the attention of dairy giant Amul. The Gujarat-based firm signed an agreement with Telangana to build a cutting-edge plant that will also be the largest in South India, with an investment of Rs 300 crore in the first phase and Rs 200 crore in the second.

It will provide work for 500 people. The plant will have a capacity of 5 lakh liters per day (LLPD) of milk processing, with an expansion capacity of 10 LLPD.

Fishin’ Company, the largest importer of the Tilapia variety of fish in the world and the largest importer of frozen food into the US, announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana.

The project, which will be located at Mid Manair Reservoir in Rajanna Sircilla, will use cage culture to produce 85,000 MTs of Tilapia fish per year. It will provide direct employment for 3,000 people and indirect employment for another 2,000.
