TRS, BJP & MIM are intimidating voters to win GHMC polls: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned TRS and BJP for linking Covid vaccine with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections and alleged that both the parties were trying to intimidate the voters by indirectly conveying that those who do not vote for them would be denied the vaccine dose, when available.

Addressing massive roads at M.S. Makhta, Malakpet and other places as part of GHMC election campaign on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that both BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Govt in Telangana were responsible for nearly 3 lakh cases and about 1500 deaths due to Coronavirus in Telangana, especially Hyderabad. “Lakhs of people who lost their jobs due to Covid pandemic must not vote for TRS, BJP and MIM as they are responsible for imposing an unplanned lockdown.

All others who suffered due to lockdown should also reject these parties. While standing in poll queues on 1st December, they must think of themselves and others, who were forced to stand in long queues to collect food items from NGOs and other parties during the lockdown period. While the BJP Govt did not extend any help, TRS Govt washed off its hands after distributing just Rs. 1500 among a few thousand BPL families,” he said.
Reddy said that thousands of people have lost their entire savings to get Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals for themselves or their loved ones. “Despite repeated demand by the Congress party, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not include Covid-19 treatment in Aarogyasri Scheme.

Private hospitals were given a free hand to loot the common people and nothing was done to regulate the cost of treatment. Consequently, thousands of people lost their entire money while a few hundred also lost their loved ones. BJP Govt remained a mute spectator to back CM KCR and did not intervene to help the people. Today, both the parties are trying to intimidate the voters by promising a free Covid vaccine. Are they trying to say that those who do not vote for them would be denied a dose of Covid vaccine?” he asked.Similarly, neither the BJP’s Union Ministers nor CM KCR visited any of the flood affected areas of Hyderabad to meet the people. More than 100 people were killed and thousands of families lost all their belongings due to the floods.

Both BJP and TRS leaders should be ashamed of themselves for displaying inhuman behaviour during Covid-19 pandemic and floods. The same leaders are now shamelessly seeking votes for their parties, he said.

The TPCC Chief said that the TRS, BJP and MIM leaders would fail in their attempts to polarise the GHMC elections on communal lines. “BJP, TRS and MIM are enacting the drama of rivalry as per the script drafted by Union Minister Amit Shah and choreographed by CM KCR. They are maintaining the perfect rhythm wherein one provocative statement is followed by a counter-statement and then by an action like visit to a temple or a memorial. Before people could make out that they are being misled, another leader gives another controversial statement,” he said adding that people of Hyderabad would never forgive TRS, BJP and MIM for such cheating attempts.

He also promised free local transportation would be provided to women, students, Divyangans and senior citizens in Metro, MMTS and RTC Buses if Congress wins GHMC polls.”Congress party is seeking votes to serve the people while TRS, BJP and MIM are seeking votes just to win the elections and serve themselves,” he said.
