Hyderabad: The Chief Minister of the state K Chandrashekhar Rao today said that The State government had revamped the Water Resources Department with major changes that took place in the field of Irrigation sector in the State.
He held a meeting with the Water Resources Department officials at Pragathi Bhavan and finalized the structure and form of the department. Under the restructuring, the departments under the Major, Medium, and Minor irrigation were all brought under one umbrella and all the affairs of the water resources under one region were brought under one officer to monitor. Accordingly, the posts of higher officials were also increased.
The CM has decided to identify 19 Water Resources regional Centres in the State and each center would be headed by one Chief Engineer as the monitoring officer. Adilabad, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Warangal, Mulugu, Sangareddy, Gajwel, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Wanaparthy, Mahboobnagar, Nagar Kurnool, Hyderabad, Kothagudem, and Khammam will be the regional Centres.
Six Engineers-in-Chief are also appointed and responsibilities are given. General, Administration, Operation, and Maintenance wings will have E-in-Cs exclusively. Among the regional Chief Engineers, three were given the responsibilities of the E-in-C. There are three E-in-Cs and newly three posts of E-in-C are sanctioned. With this, the E-in-Cs number will be six. CE posts are increased from 19 to 22, SEs posts are increased from 47 to 57, EE posts are increased from 206 to 234, DEE posts from 678 to 892, AEE posts from 2436 to 2796, Technical Officers from 129 to 199, Assistant Technical officers from 173 to 242, Junior Technical Officers from 346 to 398, Non-Technical Personal Assistants from 31 to 45. Superintendents’ posts are increased from 187 to 238 and Record Assistants from 134 to 205. It is estimated that due to revamping, additionally 945 posts are required.
The CM said that the irrigation project constructions had been taken up the government in the state as a high priority item on the agenda. As part of the important projects, the CM instructed the officials to complete a few links on the fast track. The CM reviewed with the combined Adilabad district MLAs on the projects. The CM instructed the officials to complete the Chanaka-Korata project barrage, Pump House, Canals by June 2021. He said a review should be held on all the medium irrigation projects in the combined Adilabad district, all the leftover works including Chennur Lift Irrigation Scheme should be completed quickly.
The CM wanted Water Resources Principal Secretary Rajat Kumar and other senior officials to visit the combined Adilabad district and review the situation and take action accordingly. The CM also instructed that to develop Ayucut under Asifabad, Bellampalli, Mancherial constituencies, and necessary measures to be taken on the Pranahita Project.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials concerned to invite tenders immediately for the Kuppi project in Adilabad district, Ghattu Project in Mahboobnagar district, Nagamadugu lift irrigation project under Jukkal Constituency and begin the works. The CM also instructed the officials to complete the embankment works on the Godavari in the Warangal district by the coming rainy season. The CM further instructed that the repair works of Konareddy Tank in Wardhannapet Constituency should be taken up on a permanent basis. He also instructed that the pending works of the Konayamakula lift Irrigation scheme in Parakala Constituency should be completed forthwith.
The CM also instructed officials to take up an immediate survey for the Achampet Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The CM announced the sanction of the Huzurnagar Lift Irrigation Scheme. The CM instructed the officials to take up repair works on a permanent basis for all the tanks that were damaged during the recent rains.
