You can’t insult me by saying that biryani is tiffin: Satya Nadella to ChatGPT

Microsoft Executive Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella had a bit of a disagreement with ChatGPT after the software called ‘biryani,’ one of the popular tiffin items.

Nadella asked ChatGPT, a popular AI-enabled software and a chat robot, to name the most popular south Indian tiffin items in the future, and it said the usual breakfast items – idli, dosa, and vada.

Biryani was one of the options, and Nadella, wide-eyed, told ChatGPT that the software could not insult Hyderabadi’s intelligence by referring to biryani as South Indian tiffin.

However, according to him, the software apologized, and to continue the conversation, he asked ChatGPT to create a play between idli and dosa to see which was better.

“I gave it the prompt that I don’t think so and then it apologized to me very politely. As a Hyderabadi, you can’t insult me by saying that biryani is a tiffin,” he added as the audience laughed and clapped.

On Wednesday, Hyderabad-born Nadella spoke at the Future Ready Technology Summit in Bengaluru, where he introduced the audience to a lighthearted ChatGPT conversation before diving into his presentation about the cutting-edge AI and Cloud innovation taking place in India.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence-based chatbot that can hold regular conversations with humans on a variety of topics. Since its official launch in November 2022, the application has been trending for the types of responses it provides to various day-to-day problems, and the results have been impressive.

Craze for biryani in the country

The craze for biryani only seems to be growing in the country, as Swiggy reported that Indians ordered 137 plates per minute in 2022.

Swiggy stated in its annual trends report that chicken biryani remained the queen of biryanis, toppling its vegetarian counterpart. “In 2021, customers ordered 115 biryanis per minute, and in 2022 it rose to 137 a minute, reaching 2.28 per second. India’s taste buds also explored foreign flavors with Ravioli (Italian) and Bibimbap (Korean) emerging as popular choices,” the report said.
