Dark clouds hang over proposed reopening of schools in the state

With the reports of coronavirus cases convulsing again in several parts of the world especially in Europe, the likelihood of reopening of schools in the state went into the doldrums.

Soon after the reports of the rapid increase of coronavirus with new strain emerged in the section of media, the state government is said to have been contemplating to revisit the decision it had made regarding reopening the schools soon and became very cautious over the fresh development.

However, the few budget schools are still optimistic about the reopening of schools in the state.

“Despite new development emerges out due to reports of pandemic convulsing again, we are still optimistic about reopening of schools soon and hopeful that the situation may not take such a volatile situation again. We are just waiting for the decision of the government which may come anytime soon,” said Yadgiri Shaker Rao, President Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA).

“The fresh development is neither good enough for the parents nor is for the school managements that are quite optimistic over the proposed reopening of the schools. The mood of the parents has completely changed now as they are expressing concern over the safety of their children after the scheduled reopening of schools announced by the government,” said Akther Shareef, President Telangana Private Schools Forum (TPSF).

Contending that there is an element of plausibility in parents’ concerns over sending their children to schools at a time when the virus is convulsing again, he said, “This is something very serious situation arise out due to reemergence of the pandemic in several parts of the world.

The government, that until now appears to be reluctant to give nod for the reopening of schools, became more cautious with the latest development and will try to maintain tight rope over the issue.”

“The response of the government might with regard to the proposed reopening of schools come anytime soon as the reports emerging in the section of media is really concerning and it is quite difficult to manufacture the consent of parents to send their wards to schools at this point of time,” said Chamarthi Vachaspathi, President Telangana Open School Federation (TOSF).
