Osman Nagar to be unclogged soon as pumping out flood water begins

Following rebuke from the high court, the officials’ of Jalpally Municipality has begun draining out the floodwater from Osman Nagar area through newly built pipelines and are hopeful that the issue will be resolved in just a few days.

Only on Tuesday, the high court took a serious note over the alleged laxity on the part of the officials in dealing the issue and has granted 15 days of time to Commissioner Jalpally Municipality to pump out the clogged water.

However, according to the officials the pipeline works from Osman Nagar to Ventapuram under Badanpet Municipalty has already completed a day before the court hearing on war footing that was in progress since the last 15 days.

“There was delay in executing the works as the local people at Ventkatapuram were strongly protesting against the pipeline being laid to drain out the clogged water from Osman Nagar area through the course of their village. However, the works are now completed and we have even begun releasing the water gradually with less intensity to avoid any inconvenience to the people residing on the other end,” informed G.P. Kumar, Commissioner, Jalpally Municipality.

“Presently the area is swamped into 4 feet of clogged water. As we have begun releasing the water through the pipeline, the result will come out in a week as the height of the clogged water starts depleting to some extent but will take 15 days of time to boil-down the issue completely.

Though the high court ordered us to pump out the water in 10 days but the commissioner Jalpally Municipality persuaded the court for grant of atleast 20 days of time to which 15 days of time was granted to tide over the issue. Though we are facing jurisdictional conflict too in this case but will tide over the issue with the given time,” asserted the official.

“We have completed 90 percent of the works and the issue will be resolved soon. In the absence of any kind of contribution from the state government, we have taken up the works at Badanpet Municipality, away from our jurisdiction, and have completed it from the funds generated in Jalpally municipality,” rued Abdullah Sadi, Chairmen Jalpally Municipality.
